Arriving at Paris CDG airport: how to get to the city without stress

After landing at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), allow 30 to 60 minutes to get out of the airport (passport control, luggage), then 35 to 60 minutes by road to central Paris. You have three main options: the RER B train, the buses, or a private driver booked in advance who meets you in the arrivals area.

The RER B train

The cheapest option. It leaves from Terminals 1 and 2 and stops at Gare du Nord, Châtelet and Saint-Michel. It works well if you travel light, but trains are often crowded at rush hour and there are plenty of stairs to manage with big suitcases.

The bus

Buses link the airport to Paris. They suit some neighbourhoods but depend on traffic.

A pre-booked private driver

Your driver tracks your flight and waits for you in the arrivals area, even if you land late: 30 minutes of waiting are free after landing. From CDG, central Paris costs about €44 for the whole car (up to 4 passengers and 4 suitcases), day or night; the exact price is shown before you book. For two or three travellers with luggage, the difference with public transport becomes small.

Tips for your arrival

  • Give your flight number when booking: the pick-up time follows the actual landing.
  • Switch your phone back on as you leave the plane.
  • Have the exact address of your hotel ready: the price is based on it.
